Thrift is a family business started in 2015 with a environmentally sustainable vision and a love for fashion and textiles.

What difference does buying second hand make? One person choosing to buy recycled clothing saves enough water to fill 672,500 bottles and enough energy to run 320 straight days on treadmill.

The mass production of clothing has a huge impact on our environment, and supporting local recycled fashion stores is a great way to reduce your environmental footprint.

Thrift proudly supports HUHA Charitable Trust, a registered animal charity and New Zealand’s largest no-kill shelter.  We support HUHA in two ways:

We sell on behalf of HUHA: We are authorised by HUHA to accept donations of high-quality clothing and accessories and sell directly on behalf of them. Items that we are unable to sell in our shop will be passed on to the HUHA Charity Shop in Otaki.

We donate clothing to HUHA: If we are selling on your behalf and cannot sell all your items, we will ask if you wish to donate this clothing to HUHA for sale at their charity shop in Otaki.

All money raised by Thrift will go to the rescue, rehabilitation and re-homing of abused, injured, and/or homeless animals, and to educating the community on the appropriate care of animals.

You can find more information on the work of HUHA at www.huha.org.nz  or on Facebook at HUHANZ.
